✨Soulful Days✨

This weekend, I found myself drawn to the kitchen—not just to cook, but to create something that felt like home. I made a soulfood dish, rich with flavor and memory. The kind that speaks in spices and simmers with love. It wasn’t just about the ingredients; it was about honoring the roots, the rituals, and the resilience woven into every bite.

Soulfood is more than comfort. It’s culture. It’s connection. It’s the quiet joy of slow cooking and the bold truth of seasoning with heart. As I stirred, tasted, and plated, I felt a deep sense of gratitude—for the ancestors who passed down recipes without measurements, for the stories that live in cast iron skillets, and for the nourishment that goes beyond the physical.

This dish reminded me that wellness isn’t always green juice and supplements. Sometimes, it’s cornbread and turkey necks. It’s feeding the soul, not just the body. And when made with intention, even the most indulgent meal becomes a sacred ritual.

Here’s to soulful nourishment, imperfect progress, and meals that feel like a warm hug.

Letting Go Of The Word “Can’t”

If you had to give up one word that you use regularly, what would it be?

The one word that stops us in our tracks, the one that unintentionally makes us believe that something is impossible, the one that says you’ve given up. That word for me is “can’t “. This word simply should not exist in your vocabulary.

Not because it’s harsh or impolite—but because it’s limiting.
Can’t is the quiet thief of possibility. It whispers doubt, dims potential, and convinces us to shrink from the edge of growth.

Every time I’ve said “I can’t,” I’ve felt a part of me give up before I even tried.
But I’ve learned that most of the time, can’t isn’t truth—it’s fear dressed up as certainty. It’s me feeling tired or simply feeling as though something is too hard.

So I’m choosing to replace it with let me ponder that, not yet, or even let’s see.
Because the moment we stop saying can’t, we start making space for what could be. Saying the word “can’t” tells our subconscious to not even try simply because we’ve given up. It’s the party pooper for any entrepreneur, anyone looking to better themselves, complete a project, or simply just to step out on faith.

I used the word so frequently. However I was able to fight against what it was telling my subconscious by changing my vocabulary and taking natural organic supplements (made in the UK- and they don’t play around like the U.S.)to help stimulate my brain. Supplements That Slay

🥗 Eat Well: When it’s time to break your fast, choose whole, nourishing foods.
🍓 Fruits & Veggies: Load up on vibrant, healing produce.
💧 Hydrate: Water is your best friend—sip it all day long.
🏃‍♀️ Stay Active: Move your body in ways that feel good.
🧠 Stay Sharp: Fasting can boost mental clarity—lean into it.
😴 Get Your Rest: Sleep is part of the healing. Don’t skip it.

New Cookbook on Amazon!!

By: Hodge, Natiala

Many of my best childhood memories somehow involves food. Food can be many things. A love, a comforter, nutritionists, etc etc. For me, food is what excites me, what allows me to open my mind to new things, experience different cultures, a railroad to an common ground. Food makes me dance. And let’s just say when I don’t have it there’s about 15 minutes before I change into a whole new being lol. I mean I’m just an angry bird when hungry. As I’m sure we can all say.

I often put meals together just to see the expression on ones face. I’ve taken great pleasure in pleasing people with food. I can only hope by sharing this cookbook it makes you dance and celebrate.

This cookbook offers some great ideas for any lunch/dinner or a get together. Maybe just a night alone even. Dive right in, let’s move our hips and cook!

Date Night

My favorite thing to do is cook. I mean when I really am in the mood, drinks are flowing, music is playing, and my hips are moving! I mean that’s how you know the food will be good. I also love to eat. I mean who doesn’t love food. I think most would say we’re too in love with food. Who cares. When you’re eating with friends or your partner it makes things even better.

Over the weekend it was going to rain. A happy couple asked that I prep them a meal for date night. I took that role on. I had my mind set on how I wanted to set the table . Even better that they wanted seafood (which I just love). I grabbed many item from the dollar store, so this did not cost a lot to set up. I grabbed some small glass vases, white crystal pebbles, candles, table cloth, some glasses to drink out of, flowers, utensils, and napkins. I purchased the other dishes from Kroger’s.

This is the table before I placed everything

The fun part was making the drinks and the food. Let me give you the menu breakdown.
